Just wanted to let the American Orson Welles fans on this message board know that an episode of I Love Lucy featuring Orson will be airing at 10:30 am EST on Thanksgiving Day on TV Land. Here's a synopsis of the episode from TV Tome:

Lucy tries to get in a skit with Orson Welles at Ricky's club, thinking it is a Shakespearean play that he will be doing. When Orson Welles tells Lucy she can be in the show, she calls her old high school drama teacher to tell her the news. Lucy's old teacher sends her whole drama class to Club Babalu to see Lucy perform. But poor Lucy! It turns out Welles only wanted her to be his assistant for a magic trick.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear jrs044: As you will know, Welles once strongly considered Lucille Ball for the part of Susan Kane (but RKO supposedly doubted her talent!), and he was a strong, early supporter of Ms. Ball's career, casting her in several his his radio shows, shortly after coming to Hollywood. She reciprocated with help when she had become an executive and a mega-star, but some would say that her help was no more than he managed to give her.

I always like the episode of "Lucy" you call to our attention. Lucille Ball's interest in movies and theater makes one wish she had gotten the part in CITIZEN KANE. She would have done fine, I'm sure.

Glenn,

As I have never seen this episode, I was wondering if you could tell me whether he is prominently featured or if his appearance is more of a walk-on akin to his "popping up" in many movies in the twilight of his career (and life)?

Thanks for the interesting Lucille Ball info, by the way.

Thanks for the info, JRS044. Now I just have to find someone who gets "TV Land" on their TV....

It's a funny show; not really one of the best I Love Lucy episodes, but it definitely has it's moments, and Welles is prominently featured.
