Does anyone know what the major differences are between the two versions?

There's a theatrical release? Please tell!
You may remember me from such sites as imdb, amazon and criterionforum as Ben Cheshire.

I'm guessing Kubed may be referring to the one that played the festival circuit (and is playing FF in NY) to the one on showtime. The one on showtime was assembled and narrated by Peter Bogdanovich. The one playing NY is ( I believe) the original German version.

There are some different clip choices in the PB-assembled version, as well as a recap of Welles' career at the beginning that isn't in the original German version. There are previous threads on the board that will have more detail about it.

Is it worth seeing the "Orson Welles: The One-Man Band" film that will be shown at the Film Forum on April 7th? Having just seen all six films in "The Unknown Orson Welles" series, I am wondering if "One-Man Band" duplicates what I have already seen.

I think it duplicates it.

I wish Film Forum would show that 6 part series again. Even without the currator.

Probably not possible though....

Thanks, Kubed. I'll save my bucks for F FOR FAKE playing on a double bill with THE IMMORTAL STORY from April 2-5. That should be really great! I'll also call the Film Forum about repeating "The Unknown Orson Wellese" series although I have a hunch Stefan Drossler took the films back with him to Munich. Still, it's worth a try.

Film Forum in NY has announced that "due to legal complications" ONE MAN BAND will not be screened as part of its current Welles festival.

Anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Might it be the same thing that prevented Bogdanovich's version from airing on Showtime for two years?
