Showtime is now running a promo for the Bogdanovich re-edit of "One Man Band," which is scheduled to run on Showtime, finally, in October. According to the www.sho.com website, the first airing is 10-02-03.

Could it be true? Could PB's version of the One Man Band finally be airing?

(figures, I don't have showtime.)

Well, that's very cool if it's happening, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Let me recount an anecdote:

The last time this was scheduled to air (May '02, I believe), I was, naturally, completely pumped. I had been hearing about the Bogdanovich re-edit for at least three years (including when it was first announced in October '99!) and here it was about to finally air. So I sit down, VCR all ready to go, and the program is about to begin... and the Billy Crystal movie "Throw Momma From the Train" (or something) comes on.

Later I learned that "One Man Band" had been cancelled for legal reasons.

I may have recounted this story before, but, as a Welles fan, I find it singularly horrifying.

This time I think it will really happen. I spoke to Bogdanovich last year at an event at the DGA and he told me that all the legal problems with "One Man Band" had been resolved and that Showtime would air it. Now, that seems to be coming to pass. Also, one would have to assume that Showtime wouldn't be running promos (again) unless it was pretty confident that this time it could really play the film.

Very encouraging, jbrooks. Considering that "The Other Side of the Wind" is excerpted at length in OMB, maybe a release of "Other Side" via Showtime might now actually happen? Here I go getting all optimistic again...

Knowing little about Showtime (or whatever the parent company may be), I'm impressed that, foiled once, they've stayed the course on these Welles releases. The most recent chatter about WIND sounded promising I might add.

I don't get Showtime either. I'd love to know more about Bogdonavich's edit of One Man Band. I have a copy of OMB I don't know if it differs or how. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. Also the previous post mentioned recent chatter about the WIND, I'd like to know what is being said and if there is any news on it if anyone knows. Thank you.

Did anyone see if this actually aired on october 2nd??? I know it didn't air here in Southeast Kansas, but on their website the channel it was on was something like "Showtime East", so we probably don't get that specific channel here....I would think it would have been shown seeing as it was still on the scedule at the Showtime website on the 2nd,,,

I have all of the Showtime stations and "One Man Band" didn't air on any one of them on October 2. According to the following webpage, it will make it's first airing on October 14:

There was a delay due to a (tiny) legal snag. But it looks like it's still on for several times this month and next. The Showtime press office said they were going to get me a tape on Monday (Oct. 6), so I'm looking forward to it.
