Callow?

Discuss all Welles related Literature projects here.

I've heard all kinds of things about Simon Callow's Welles bio - from he's refuses to do another one, all the way to, he's doing not only a second but also a third volume. But everything I've seen has been hearsay.

Does anybody have any reliable info on this?

Welcome to the board. Somebody here mentioned an interview recently where Callow stated he had been doing research for the second volume, so it seems safe at this point to assume there will be one more. Also, his comments made it sound like the second volume would be the last. If you do a board search, you should be able to find it.

..................

same thing i read. first i read an interview where he said there would never be a second welles book. then an interview where he said he was doing research for the second welles book. don't beleive anything till it's on the shelf. he could still throw a fit and toss the manuscript in the publisher's face.

An article in the 5 January 2003 edition of The Guardian (UK) lists Callow's second volume among upcoming biographies this year and gives a September publication date. No idea whether this is legit or not, but there it is.
