Jaime, wish me luck in that "One Man Band" (or "The Lost Films of Orson Welles") is something I'd really like to see - so, I've written to the distributor in Germany to find out whether there's even a chance of locating a copy in some format or other, be it in Europe or in North America.

No word, so far (I had to write in English, since I have absolutely no German I can use); but, I'm hopeful. Where Welles is concerned one must always be hopeful, nein?

never heard of THE LOST FILMS OF ORSON WELLES. sounds delicious.

i'm going to try google search a bit later. google has found stuff that the giant conglomerate monster, AMAZON didn't even have a whisper on. i was impressed.

graver's sons have a site, they sell the OW tv show, and GRAVER'S docu. will try to find them, see if they expanded their stock.

If you find the URL for the Graver site, can you post it here? I just looked on Google, and couldn't find anything like that.

Jaime M, "The Lost Films of Orson Welles" is simply "One Man Band" by its BBC broadcast name. As for Google searches, I quite agree on their relative effectiveness; however, it was only after an extremely protracted Google search that I arrived at the conclusion that the distributor (Medias Res of Germany) was the only reasonable - and probably the last - resort in this instance.

If you come up with anything else, though, I'm all ears (or eyes, I guess...)

came up with nothing, only that Medias Res of Germany is the distrubutor of screening prints.

Medias' website has no information on anything.

Also, if I may put out a request for a copy of the revised ONE MAN BAND, which I know is circulating on screener tapes issued by Showtime last year before its aborted showings. I have a wide variety of Welles film/radio stuff and various other films I can offer in trade.

...................

in my search for graver's kid's site, i found this.

http://www.buyindies.com

you guys might want to check this out. i did a search on welles, no ONE MAN BAND, but got 101 hits, 90 were legitimate!

but whacking some one $65 for a vhs tape is a bit steep.

and no sight of graver's kid's site.

Good site referral, Jaime M. Thanks.

I only found 16 Welles-related hits there, though. But I didn't exhaust all the search possibilities, either, I admit.

BTW, what about "The Dominici Affair", anyone? Anything of real interest in this one?

Also, I found a couple of possible avatar additions at this site - including what I find is a rare colour photo of our man from the early 40's standing outside what appear to be the CBS Studios somewhere

without putting anyone down, i just don't think "Citizen Kane" looks good in color. i'm glad there was something in his contract to keep it from being made into color. i thought i saw in an article or book that someone IS going to try to do it in color. bad decision that guy's gonna make.

probably end up being the guy that thought he could do Orson's Magnificent Amberson's the way he really wanted it. and didn't.

i don't even think Orson himself looked good in color either.

i do like the later photo of him, in the poster site, near the microphone.

the last one of him with a hotel behind him looks like he's smiling for someone, while at the same time thinking, "would you take the picture, already. i want to go back to bed."

bye now!

or is it that i'm just too used to the black & white?

rkadin:
this is bizare. after i saw your post i went to the site, put in welles and got 97 hits. after the films he directed, most of the hits are films he acted in, and narrated.

DOMINICI AFFAIR is excellent. well presented, excellent research, i highly recomend it. ROSABELLA is excellent. AROUND THE WORLD WITH ORSON WELLES is probably the worst welles in my collection.

nat:
we'll buy the rights to CITIZEN KANE, we'll colorise it, we'll run black stripes on top and bottom of screen and we'll fake a cinemascope logo so we can claim our version was filmed in scope. we'll make a fortune.

then we'll do the same with AMBERSONS, and absolutely LADY FROM SHANGHAI. on AMBERSONS we can change to whole soundtrack. we'll get an all keyboard score, and we'll throw in 12, to 15 hit songs so we can release a cd. we can get some good rap music in there to get the younger audience. it will be bigger than MOULIN ROUGE.

orson is kind of frightening in real color, but with our muted computer colorising program, we'll make KANE a modern marvel. and we can get Jayz and LL Cool J to redo the KANE sound track.

get me in front of the money man, i have the pitch down and i'm ready to burn.

(this might sound ridiculous now, but 10 years from now it will be frightening how close this will be to reality.)

The site:
http://www.german-cinema.de/archive/film_view.php?film_id=96

Has good detail on One Man Band, and lists world sales as being available from Medias Res GmbH, and includes an address and a telephone number!!

Any wellesnetians speak German?!!! :-D
i've tried doing google searches on 'Medias Res GmbH' but have as yet been unable to come up with a website or an e-mail address!!

atb,
max!

The world sales mention is probably for distribution, rather than individual sales of a tape, but I could be wrong. It would be in PAL format also, I'd think, so it would have to be transferred before you could watch it on a typical US television.
