Filming Othllo/Fountain of Youth

VHS, LD, or DVD

Postby Tony » Fri Jan 03, 2003 7:41 pm

Might anybody have copies of Filming Othello and The Fountain of Youth? I have seen them only once, on a double bill 2 years ago. I have been collecting Welles since the AFI show in 1975, and have a fairly extensive collection, but these two are the holes in my collection. If you could help me, I'd appreciate it so much.

I have an execrable copy of Filming Othello (a bootleg I got from ebay).

Maybe we can exchange dupes of something. You still looking for Branagh's Hamlet? My laserdisc was finally returned to me after a 4 year "loanout".

hmmm... i've had a bit of spare time today (can you tell?!)

Anyway i came across this site which offers, 'Fountain Of Youth' for sale... quality is VG-...

The tragedy (for me) is they only ship to USA/Canada!! so i'll have to carry on hunting... (though i have sent them a begging letter to ship me one to the UK!)

Good news fellow UK (and other non US/Canada) Wellesnetters!!!

Truegore video will export Fountain Of Youth (NTSC) videos!
They accept payment via Paypal or snail mail...

i've ordered myself a copy and will report here the quality of tape and service!

maxout!

Thanks for letting us know about the “Truegore” web site, Maxrael. I ordered my copy of “Fountain of Youth” not long after your post, and I just received my copy in the mail today. Not too surprisingly, it’s not in “very good” condition as advertised. I’d say it’s in “fair” condition, but a person who’s finicky about things like aspect ratios and anamorphic vs. non-anamorphic would undoubtedly rate it as “poor.” It’s a relatively muddy print, and it has the words “Encore Entertainment” emblazoned at the bottom of the screen. It’s certainly a watchable print, but don’t expect anything near pristine condition.
