So where can we order the Spanish DVD of Chimes? Is there a Spanish amazon.com?

I ordered and received mine from a Spanish online store called DVDGo.com. Their service, including air shipping from Spain was as fast as (if not faster than) some American dot-coms I have ordered from.

I tried dvdgo.com, but I'm getting the "this site is unavailable" message. Any other Region 2 DVD shops that might carry the Spanish Chimes?

You may have a browser problem or some such thing. Every time I click on that link above, I am taken to DVDGo's site. I suggested them because Chimes is a Spanish DVD and is more likely to be available from a Spanish company (and I got great service).

The site's working fine now. Look's like dvdgo.com just released a DVD of Don Quixote. Hopefully, it couldn't possibly be any worse quality than the ebay bootleg I bought.

Akio, If you happen to order Don Quixote, let us know what it’s like. I’d be particularly interested to find out if the DVD is region coded. Fortunately Chimes is not (or it’s coded 1-6) and can be played on any DVD player that can play PAL-formatted movies (like a computer DVD player). DVDGO.COM claims that Don Quixote is region 2 coded, but they also state that (erroneously) as to Chimes, so hopefully they’re wrong about Don Quixote as well. You may have a DVD player that can play multi-region coded DVD’s, but a lot of us (myself included) are stuck with having to get DVD’s of a certain region, in the U.S. that’s region 1. In any case, at about $16 U.S., which is half of what they charge for Chimes, I fear that the quality of Don Quixote may not be too good. Also, incidentally, when you order from DVDGO.COM they’ll want you to send them a copy of your credit card and driver’s license which is going to delay your shipment unless you can fax that info to them (I mailed it to them when I bought Chimes).

I just wanted to add that the Spanish DVD of CHIMES is uniformly excellent - it's the English language print (115 minutes, which on the disc, playing at 25fps runs 111 minutes), and although no major work has been done on the images or (sadly) the sound, it is still the best I have ever seen - the images are very good and properly letterboxed at 1.66:1, and although my Spamish is not very good, the 20 minutes of interviews with the Spanish participants is a great extra.

It's a really good disc and anyone that can watch PAL DVD should get it!

Has anyone else seen it yet?

I was very happy with the Chimes DVD. Considering that we may not see another version, in North America at least, for who knows how long, this one will do fine. Does the film need restoration work done? Sure, but it's hardly in what i would consider dire shape. Quixote looks to be in far worse shape than Chimes.
