Looking for LD dub trades

VHS, LD, or DVD

Postby Michael » Thu Aug 14, 2003 1:24 am

Hello all!

I'm still looking to trade for dubs of LD of Othello, Chimes, and Macbeth--dubs of the films, the commentary, and any extras. I have access to an amazing video store with a huge classics, silent, and foreign film section. Let me know please!

The laserdisc of Othello contains better stuff, IMO than the DVD, such as features like the "Put Money in Thy Purse" section and the Return to Glennascaul film and the excerpts of "Filming Othello".

What is the "Put the Money in Thy Purse" section? How much of Filming Othello did they put on the laserdisc?

"Put Money in Thy Purse" is a short chapter that shows stills and posters of some of the projects Welles was working on in an attempt to raise money for Othello. It is narrated on the laserdisc by Myron Meisel.

Wow. I marvel at the time and effort you're putting into these DVDs. Thank you so much! Can't wait to see your Othello and Ambersons! I'm going to get a new DVD player this weekend!

Hi There, I'm new to posting around here, but been around since the start (ish). Been a Welles fan for years, but I don't have anything too rare, can't usally find much in Scotland!

I was wondering (and trying not to seem rude) about how I would be able to get a copy of your Othello DVD?

Thanks

The quality differences between the DVD and laserdisc looks pretty close to me, considering that the commercial DVD was "digitally remastered", etc. Interesting how there appears to be some tinting on one version or the other (or both). Also, the "windowboxing" of the commercial version appears to shave a bit off the picture.

Kudos, KUDOS to Welles Fan. I received a copy of his "Special Edition" Othello and Ambersons LD-transfers and I have to say that they are excellent. Great job!

Hi Welles Fan,

I've been trying to write to you about your Othello DVD the last couple of days, but your inbox is full. You're a popular guy all of a sudden!

Sorry, Cole. I'm a terrible housekeeper. The messenger should be pretty well cleared out now.
