A Wish List of Welles Films to Buy

VHS, LD, or DVD

Postby Kubed » Thu Mar 04, 2004 12:44 am

I'm looking for the following Welles films:

Preferably on DVD but am open to VHS as well.

Don Quixote - region 1
Fountain of Youth
Welles Sketch Book

Arena: The Orson Welles Story - the longer BBC version

I don't have "deep pockets" but would happily pay fair market value.

Thanks.

try www.emule-project.net

once you download emule program, you'll be able to search for a wide selection of rare files - there's some great stuff here. Far better than the range on Kazaa.

you can search for items on www.fileDonkey.com to get an idea of the range of files available.
You may remember me from such sites as imdb, amazon and criterionforum as Ben Cheshire.

Thanks for the tip.

What is the quality of the Don Quixote? Is it comprable to the dvd version?

Kubed...my advice to you is to get an all region DVD player and a Laserdisc player. That is the only good way of getting a hold of a lot of OW's best and rare work. The Magnificent Amerbersons, Chimes at Midnight, Don Q, and the Immortal Story for example can only be had from overseas DVDs and Laserdisc. Ebay is another good resource.

The Quixote on emule IS the DVD version. A fine "transfer."

I went to the search section and typed in Welles and a few titles and nothing came up.

How does it work?

If you have the emule program, and are definitely connected to a server (click on the connect button. If there is no connect button up the top, it means the connect button probably says "disconnect" instead, and you're online.

In the search section, there's a drop-down menu which says "server" and "server-global". Try searching server-global, more titles should come up. Titles come and go depending on who's online. Its person to person sharing.
