Orson Welles Oscar for "Citizen Kane" - Academy Buys Back Oscar for $1.00

Discuss what many consider the greatest film ever made

The Academy of Motion Pictures forced Beatrice Welles, Orson Welles's youngest daughter, to withdraw the Oscar he won for the screenplay of Citizen Kane[I] from an upcoming auction at Christie's where it was reportedly valued at $400,000. The Academy exercised its right to buy back the Oscar for $1.00. In one news report, Beatrice Welles threatened to sue the Academy and not return the Oscar. In another, the Academy offered to help Ms. Welles financially if she would agree to return the Oscar. Does anyone have any further news or update on this dispute?
