Well, who among us could say no to that? Here's a copy of my contribution:

If not from original footage, restoration to near-Wellesian vision IS possible via other, inexpensive means. This I know as fact. It could enhance Time Warner's prestige immeasurably to foster such a project, not to mention its ROI, given the worldwide audience that would eagerly line up for such a product. Diversify your game plan, folks. Why limit yourself, lottery-like, to throwing tens upon tens of $$millions in untried product at an over-marketed & skittish demographic when, for the cost of a fraction of today's location catering budgets, you could win the next-best-thing to a commercial AND artistic sure bet? Cannes would hand over its key to the city in a heartbeat and your execs would be feasting on the finest foods and wines at no expense as honoured Festival guests. As "wins" go, this one would have few - if any - equals. Why shouldn't it be yours?

And mine, too:

As Macresarf1, a Top Reviewer at Epinions.com, I can tell you that THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS is one of the two or three greatest -- perhaps the Greatest -- of Restoration Grails. I urge you to give independent restoration producers, like Rick Schmidlin, a green light to bring the version closest possible to Orson Welles' vision of this classic. I join all the undersigned in asking you to do yourselves and the public a favor. Thank you for your consideration. Alex Fraser -- Macresarf1.

Far be it from me to rain on anyone's parade, but I really doubt this petition will have any effect in making Warner speed up production of an AMBERSONS DVD. They've stated in the past that they want to put one out, but need to find and restore quality elements to do so. Warner is perhaps the best studio out there in terms of their back catalog, and I'm pretty confident they'll do a good job, be it as a loaded special edition or as a solid one disc release.

Probably true, Jeff. Then again, a million rain drops . . . even a dozen or so . . . .
