Missing footage in the Ambersons trailer

Discuss Welles's other RKO films, and the legendary fiasco that nearly destroyed his career

It was an imitation of an old vaudeville record, performed by two Mercury players. I suppose this was just before radio made such records obsolete.

Mteal,

The reason they're called "trailers" is that they used to be shown at the end of the whole show's programme (ie after the newsreel, cartoon and B picture etc) and were there to entice patrons to come back next week and see the new programme - they thus "trailed" the programme since they were right at the end of it....

and now for my next trick...

I thought they were screened between the main attraction and the B picture?

In any case, they didn't use to be right at the front.

i guess it all depends on:
who's movie your watching
what theatre your watching it in
where the theatre is located
when you are watching it
how long the movie is

and why in the world would they keep in the same way all the time anyhow. then it would become boring. so, they made it in the beginning in some, in the middle of some, at the end of some.

by the way, lots of people, namely me, don't even go into the room until the commercials, exuse me "trailers", are done and over with and the movie starts showing. and lots of people, me again, leave before the credits even start to role at the end.

i did that with the restoration of "touch of evil" and didn't even know that "mr. schmiddlin" was the editor or producer of the restoration of the dang thing.

oh well, thanks for all the answers guys!

bye now!
