Moulin Rouge - ...and Welles

Including those who have made films ABOUT Welles

Postby Fredric » Tue Jan 22, 2002 6:54 pm

Saw Moulin Rouge last night. Regarding the editing style: F for Fake/TOSOTW anyone?

Regarding the play within the film: The producer kicks the creator off the set and changes the end of the play. Hmmm. Sounds familiar.

Very different movie. I think Orson would have liked it.

...and don't forget that Zidler looks remarkably like Major Amberson...

Also, notice the shot near the end, as Nicole lie on the stage, the camera pans up to reveal two workmen on the catwalk (mercifully no one is holding their nose), then the camera appears to 'go through' the roof of the theatre.
