In 1941, Orson Welles went to Latin America to shoot several stories about life in that region. Over time, the project got shelves, the footage was lost or destroyed and the film was considered missing forever. But in 1985, 300 cans of film were found in the RKO vaults, some labeled so vaguely that their contents were unknowable. From these cans, in 1993, a documentary was assembled to as closely as possible present Welles' vision.

That documentary, "It's All True: Based on an Unfinished Film by Orson Welles," will be shown Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at New Haven Public Library, 133 Elm St. Admission is free.
