Dumb Question about The Trial DVD

Discuss Welles's other European films.

I was just wondering how to access the deleted scene on the French "The Trial" DVD. Once again, I feel silly asking this, but, I don't speak french, and couldn't find it on the DVD. Also, which of the two versions is considered to be more what Welles desired ( I have not watched the second disc yet).

I assume you're referring to the Studio Canal Classique version, in which case select the fourth item down on the Main Menu, then select "Scenes Coupees Muettes", which should be the fifth item down on that second menu. There's no sound, so don't think there's a problem with your player or disc if all you hear is silence.

The first disc is Welles' original cut. The second disc is the 1984 edit for America. It cuts the opening pin screen and rearranges/deletes other scenes.

I have another question. I was watching the trailer. Being a french disc, the audio is in French. But it seems to have an English option but I don't hear anything. Is this the same on all discs or did I have a problem with mine?
