Much like Al Pacino in Godfather 3, just when I think I am out, they pull me back in again. I am locking this thread. This should not require any explanation. The new moderator is forthcoming shortly. I have advised him to get to know the surroundings here before handing out bannings, warnings, and so on.
I find it a bit much for people to be calling for keats' removal, given that he is entirely correct about Glenn's behavior being not exactly above board, whatever keats' own behavior has been in defending himself. Nor is this the first time Glenn has behaved in a less than gracious manner; after the banning of another longtime member who will remain nameless (go back to February 2007 if you need a history lesson), another board member emailed me to show some leniency, and added "But I must admit, I know that Glenn has really annoyed some members with his high-handed dismissals of others' comments, and though often I have defended him, increasingly he has gone after me. But I have never suggested he not come back: I did comment that he might want to be more considerate when he does." Boards tend to develop alpha personalities, and Glenn clashed with the aforementioned banned member, and now he is clashing with keats. So let's not pretend Glenn is some kind of angel. His posts have often been valuable, but he is not without blame.
And Alfred/Lee, calling for someone to be banned when you have been a blatant abuser of sock puppets (a bannable offense, if you recall) is maybe not the wisest move, hmm?
Anyways, the new moderator should be up and running before long and we'll see what happens from there. If things continue to go downhill, more drastic measures, such as a complete board shutdown, can be taken. If anyone sees the need to take this up with me, feel free to do so, but I'm not going to have much sympathy either way. I'm not sure what you would expect me to do, either.
Hopefully you are all having a pleasant holiday season, and have a happy new year.
