I don't have it in my hands yet, but it is on order.

According to IMDb the original ratio was 1.37:1, which equates to full-screen (give or take a few hundredths). I can't imagine it will be presented as anything else.

I've had this for over a week now and still not had a chance to watch it. But I have skipped through a few scenes to check out the quality. As requested, here are my thoughts:

Overall the transfer is pretty good for the film's vintage. Not stunning, but solid enough. It was produced by Studio Canal, who have a good reputation to uphold. A little soft in detail, some minor dirt on the print, but nothing to worry about. I'd rate it a B/B+.

Finally got around to watching this movie. The transfer is definitely a bit soft but easily good enough to enjoy. There are no special features at all - not even a trailer. As for the movie, it is interesting that Orson's brief performance easily makes one think of three previous Welles performances. His character - a rich jerk who treats his wives poorly and then dies mysteriously obvious recalls C.F. Kane. His character dominates the entire movie but doesn't show up for an hour, which is reminiscent of Third Man. And the best of all is Orson's scene where he quotes lines from Othello, states his admiration for the play and then talks about how he saw it at the St. James Theatre the year before but didn't like the lead actor. Funny stuff.

The movie itself, like all of his acting roles, is underwhelming and how about that absurd final moment of the film! Nothing like cheesy movies from the 50's...

Just watched this on my old VHS ,i enjoyed it thoroughly and it was quite a good clean copy. A standard british 50's detective story. John McCallum who shares one scene with OW travelling in a car together, is still alive living in Australia aged 91. The opening scene shows a gardener discovering the corpse of OW's character, the actor that played the gardener is Kenneth Williams who later appeared in both the play and film of Moby Dick Rehearsed.
