Poorly written article (spells Orson as "Orsen" twice) but a fascinating tidbit:

I've always found that to be an interesting tidbit, as well as something I'd like to hear. (I originally read it in the Trivia folder for Star Wars at the IMDB.)

But it's hard to imagine Welles voicing Vader, but then that could be because I have Jones' voice imbedded with that image in my mind.

Similarly, the IMDB trivia folder also mentioned that the great Japaneese actor Toshiro Mifune was briefly considered for the part of Obi-Won. Now that is something I would have liked to see.

While Mifune would have made an interesting choice, his English was poor and they would have been forced to dub him. And it does seem hard to imagine Welles as Vader; as a younger man, I could see it, given the strength of his voice, but by the time of Star Wars, his vocal power had faded quite a bit.
