Any News on DVD releases? - Discussion of Upcoming DVDs

Postby bactor » Sat Aug 14, 2004 6:55 pm

I was wondering if anyone had heard anything further on the release of Ambersons, Othello, F for Fake and Kane on Criterion DVD. I understand F for Fake has been announced to be released. And I've heard the rumors of Welles' films seeing a Criterion treatment within the next year (but no gaurantees). But I was simply seeing if there were any updates, as this site has not had any news updates since June 23. Thanks.

Ambersons and Kane are owned by Warner Bros. and will likely not see a dvd release by Criterion. Beatrice Welles owns Othello and has already released the "restored" version on dvd and is unlikely to do so on Criterion DVD. F for Fake or Confidential Report seem the most likely candidates to have a Criterion release but haven't yet seen an official announcement about them.
