2007 ~ Can we recap what's in store? - I mean it IS the 65th Anniversary of MA

MA, as in Magnificent Ambersons, of course. And Journey Into Fear.

What have we been told about any moves to release anything, and what were the release dates?

Last year I read elsewhere: "Warner Bros., who owns the rights to "Ambersons" in the U.S. and Canada, has no plans to release the film on a Region 1 DVD anytime soon" (May 2006)

and from WB: "We're still looking for better materials on AMBERSONS. We waited for KONG and KANE and it was worth it. It will be worth it for the AMBERSONS, and yes, we will release JOURNEY INTO FEAR when we do AMBERSONS." (2006)

Actually, that's my quote from IMDB (small cyber world, huh?) and it was in response to a couple of posters who were hoping a Region 1 release would be imminent.

I haven't heard anything else apart from the official line concerning the search for "better elements". You would think "Ambersons" (and, to a much lesser degree, "Journey...") would be of some value to Warners/Turner, but I still believe that "Kane" was the one they were willing to spend money on to digitally touch-up and to keep the "Estate Of Orson Welles" happy with; the other two aren't worth the same kind of attention (i.e. money, legal hassles, what-have-you).
