Rare Orson Welles Films on Tape?

Postby Kube » Tue Mar 02, 2004 2:03 pm

What rare Orson Welles films are on tape that are not on DVD? Only reason I say tape as opposed to DVD is that there might be more films available.

One Man Band?

Any of the films on the Orson Welles Unfinished Works at the film forum?

What about the long interview with the BBC that was aired in the US in the early 90s.

Does anyone own it? Does anyone have the uncut version?

ONE MAN BAND has never been commercially released in any format, though screener copies on both VHS and DVD made for the press are floating around. OMB is basically the main source for clips of the material presented at the NY and LA screenings, though only brief clips are in OMB compared to what was being screened.

The BBC interview (titled ARENA: THE ORSON WELLES STORY), has also never been released commercially, and the American screening on TNT was shortened from the original British version. The uncut British version is in circulation on the "underground" trading circuit. It's well worth tracking down a copy.

Do you have a suggestion on where to buy it? I've been looking for it and haven't found it anywhere.

Aside from eBay or trading for it, not really.
