I love those episodes of Jack Benny where Orson subbed for Jack. I particularly enjoyed his exchanges with Phil Harris. Great stuff!

my favorite part is when mr. benny comes back. and upsets orson by saying his name wrong a few times. and then they go to the sponsor's message area.

orson just about goes mad efter being called "oswald"

The Jack Benny stuff is hilarious. I've listened to it many times. I've always thought Orsen had a great sense of humor and was able to play comedy--especially on radio.

On the Jack Benny Show I like the fact that Orson is always introduced with the sound of a gong...funny. He was a good sport, and knew how to poke fun of his image. Of course I suppose he probably needed to at that point in his career.

For my money, probably the best comic performance Welles ever gave was in the Campbell Playhouse program I LOST MY GIRLISH LAUGHTER, where he plays, ironically, a Hollywood mogul who butchers a budding screenwriter's work beyond all recognition. This program is on the Mercury Theatre's web site, although not in very good sound.

i heard that one too.
what about the affairs of anatole. trust me, its not all about love.
and i think the one is there's always a woman where he's a detective, but his wife figures out the murder

even when he's upset, sometimes he's funny. like in theodora goes wild. he's told to get rid of theodora. he yells, "i know i have to do it. i just don't know how i'm gonna do it"

thanks for reminding me of the plot of the story. i've only heard it once. i knew the story, just didn't know which title

bye now

that information please game show announcer really must have meant it when he said it was his last appearance on the show.

i like the part where they are doing housekeepers names, and the do the one of pickwick papers.
orson gets picked then says he cant think of her name as if he knew it but i think he was just being silly.
