The Tell-Tale Heart

This truly bizarre performance of the Poe story is from 1946 (and the Mercury Summer Theater.) The accent Welles employs is a bit unusual, perhaps Deranged Mid-Western, which still manages to sound exotic; it's not a stock item from his stable of accents.

The music by Benny Herrmann (with its thump-thumping bass) is creepily effective as well.
