Welles might have identified with Dante: "We all had our ideas of what Dante looked like. But if this is right, it shows his face was different... He looks more like a common man, a man on the street."

Of course, what must be added to any rendition of a human face is spirit -- life!

Then, the nose does not seem all that important.
