Welles at the Copa story

This article at Forbes says that Welles trashed his hotel room in Brazil because Dolores Del Rio broke up with him. The accounts I've heard have him throwing furniture out the window because he refused to pay the "wear and tear" fees the hotel gave him.

maybe that's why he was able to do the scene in Citizen Kane so well. he rehearsed it there.

and breaking up with a loved one does change people for a while. or at least until you get a new one.

That would be the other way round, because Kane was before this incident. Looks like a nice place, though. I can't think of too many better places to throw furniture out of windows from, regardless of reason...

the forbes article won't come in, but:::::::

in the rko story a guy tells the story where welles says, "i'll show you how i did it in kane," and commenced to throw all the furniture out the window. then in an interview somewhere welles said the tossing was his answer to the bill the hotel gave him.

the forbes article just came in. wasn't del rio and welles already over by the furniture tossing? maybe the reprter read brazil, the tossing, then remembered he dated del rio, and said, 'aha!' i just figured out what happened!"
