Chirpy: thanks for this cool post! I have done searches for Welles stills and its always a pain in the butt. You've provided a bunch of excellent images all in one place. Great!

Are you a collector of hard-copy Welles stills? Or do you just have an electronic archive? I'd be interested in hearing about your collecting activities.

And that animation is really neat as well--can I use it? Will attribute to you, of course.

I am glad you liked the pictures.

yes you can use the animation.

I capped those pics from the documentary ..."Battle Over Citizen Kane"...I have also capped pictures from Citizen Kane which I have saved on my hard drive.

Basically I either cap pictures from his films or I search on the internet for Orson pics and save them in my online picture album :)

I have many pictures of Orson on my computer as well. I have capped many photos of Orson, and found many on the internet.

I give a heartfelt and gracious thank you to those people I have obtained Orson photos from through the internet.

Orson was a very handsome man! :D

O&J: do you collect hard-copy stills of Welles, or just maintain an electronic archive? I guess people don't collect real photos (or copies of photos) anymore.

You mention the people on the internet who have helped you collect photos--is this a formal group of people or do you just put out feelers?

I'm interested in developing an archive myself.

By the way, I liked what you wrote on that other thread: "It still stings when I read how Welles was treated." Nice expression in that post of the emotions I sometimes feel thinking about the trials Welles went through.

I do have pictures of Orson that I have purchased through the internet. Places like art.com and barewalls.com. They are great sites because you are able to purchase movie posters of Orson's films as well. So, I have a few 8x10 and 11x14 stills of Orson that are framed and are put in a place of honour reserved especially for Orson. (that sounds kind of lame!)

As for your second question, let's just say I am "borrowing" their images. I still thank them any way because they were the ones that put in all the work to post them onto the internet. Scanning is hard work! I have scannned a few pictures of Orson myself as well into my computer. So, they deserve credit.

Thanks for the compliment Tim. The sentence pretty much covers how I feel about Welles' tribulations.

Chirpy,

I just wanted to add my thanks for all the wonderful photos you posted on July 2 of Orson Welles in his vibrant youth. I've saved a number of them on my computer.

*SIGH* Thank you Chirpy, there are a few there I haven't seen. Esp. the first one---that's great.

Does anyone have the photo, taken at a Roosevelt rally, of Orson talking to Frank Sinatra? I used to have it, but lost it when my husband bought us a new computer. I loved it---two of the greatest talents of the 20th (or any) century together!
