it's in life magazine, i saw it a few months back. same magazine also advertised welles as a guest on the frank sinatra radio show. this show must have lasted 2 weekends because i never heard of franky having a radio show. this was pre-hollywood welles i'm almost sure.
does any one have the pic of welles dressed as col haki on the set of ambersons?
Thank you Jaime, I'll look for it! I never heard about a Sinatra radio show either---I'll ask my husband (who's very tolerant of my Sinatra & Welles obsessions, & very talented at finding things on the web) to see what he can find...
Chirpy and you other folks posting all these pics with the Getty watermarks:
What's the story with these? Are they available for purchase as stock images? Or is the Getty simply accumulating photographic imagery in some sinister attempt to corner the visual culture record, like Bill Gates' Corbis project?
I think these proprietary watermarks are offensive, for so many reasons. Shouldn't these photos be in the public domain by now? Does anyone have these photos without the junk across the front fouling up the image?
No. Actually for Getty pictures you can purchase a license to use the photos. It is a site for archived images that are used by journalists and whatnot. You really purchase rights to use the images for a certain amount of time. This way you can use the photo with out the watermark.
Some photos I found laying around some where....Enjoy!!:D

orson and jazz, WOW! welles and robinson at the stork club, super.
phoebe, i have welles and sinatra obssession as well, along with john huston, howard hughes, and elvis. love the elvis books. love stories about people that had too much cash and no guidance.
Orson & Jazz, to answer your question, the indicated photo is a makeup test still showing Welles as Kurtz for the proposed film version of "Heart Of Darkness".
The picture was placed along with other Welles films and under the title Heart of Darknes. But I know he hadn't made the film. So I thought it was a mistake or from another film that was already made.
The make up looks great! Welles did wonders with make up. He can sure transform and immerse himself into a character so well.

Then it should be called the Welles stare. With all the great pictures and posters of Orson out there, I'm surprised noone has ever created an Orson Welles image gallery. It would make a great website.
