I have read that Welles' father was a "well to do inventor...” is this true? If so, does anybody know what he invented and if any of his inventions are still in use today? ???

he was an inventor, a world traveler and bon vivant, the man who broke the bank at monte carlo, a friend of houdini's, a friend of tarkington, invented one of the first automobile headlights; i've read all this and don't beleive any of it.

Orson's father also seemed an incredibly cruel man at times as when he did not lament at the death of Orson's brother, saying something to the fact like"Well, at least we are rid of him. Orson's brother I believe suffered with symptoms similar to schizophrenia at around the time of his death.
