the treasure of the sierra madre, and bonus disc. both excellent. the film print is not excellent, but it's not bad, and has loads of extras. and with the malata deck, the actual shape of the frame is surprising.

key largo, looks excellent, no extras, and again, zooming back on the image makes a huge difference.

fat city, looks great, no extras

winter kills, excellent film, looks great, excellent commentary track.

i'm awaiting the arrival of maltese falcon, can't wait to see it zoomed back with the malata deck

contempt film and bonus disc. strikes 10 in the look of the film, and the extras. perhaps strikes even higher than 10 in the extras

bride of frankenstein, film and extras are excellent

gods and monsters, film and extras are excellent

the restored queen kelly, bitching print, no extras

she wore a yellow ribon, bitching print, not many extras

the searchers looks like a million, not many extras

rio bravo, looks superb, no extras

chaplin's bio. excellent. written by chaplin. he credits ward bond and john wayne for chasing him out of america like a common pygmy. in america of the 50s, politics were dangerous. get john wayne, and ward bond on your ass, and it's over.

von sternberg's book, fun in a chinese laundry, super, excellent read.

there is more but i will spare you guys for now.

maybe this will spark some postings here. this place has been like the streets of tombstone when the clantons are coming into town

Blunted,
couldn't agree more with the Treasure of the Sierra Madre, except I'd like to point out one particular extra that jumped out at me... The Bugs Bunny cartoon '8-Ball Bunny' where Bugs and a big-eyed peng-ew-enn go on a rollickin' tour of the globe, with continual interruptions by Fred C. Dobbs, beggin' for change. That cartoon had me on the floor. It also signalled the long-overdue release of Warners cartoons, top of my Christmas list.
I also have the new 2-disc versions of 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' and 'Yankee Doodle Dandy', both lavished with extras. Although there is some great debate/argument regarding the presentation of Technicolor on TAoRH disc, it still has much of its charm and panache, while YDD is a great reminder of just how powerful a personality Cagney could be - what a shame it wasn't shot in colour, too!
I thought I circulated a query about Contempt a few months back and basically was told to stay away, stay far away from that film? I was interested in the cast, but its nice to hear that there are a few other reasons to check it out...
I also recently stumbled across Rene Clair's It Happened Tomorrow, a devilishly charming film that makes the most of Dick Powell's sombre comedic skills. No extras, though.

I also loved the bugs bunny cartoon

the Contempt disc is tremendous. it has a great commentary track, and the bonus disc kicks butt; conversations between Godard and Lang, paparazzi footage of the shooting, and some other odds and ends. Godard is not for every one. I do admit some Godard films I’d rather drive wooden stakes in my eyes than watch again. and I might not have liked Contempt if it had just been the film, but the commentary and the extras made a wonderful package that I enjoyed very much, and the transfer looks incredible. I also liked Godard’s Weekend a lot.

Welles Fan recommended the Robin Hood discs. I saw it years and years ago before this restoration, and it looked like it had been colored with crayons. I suspect the critics that complained about the color are hip-hop age critics and know nothing about it. that is just the way it looked back then before Technicolor was perfected.

is godard spelled with one D, or 2 Ds?

another excellent discovery:
kino's QUEEN KELLY. the tranfer is aces. excellent commentary track, and loads of interviews with crew members and even swanson. out takes, out takes of the merry widow, screenplay segments, memos from stroheim, production papers. excellent. highly recomended. probably has 4 1/2 hours of programing
