I checked out ebay recently for the first time in ages and searched for Orson Welles stuff and was offered loads of ropey old copies of the stranger but no desirable stuff, this left me thinking, what about people who want, say 'one man band' and haven't been lucky enough to stumble across this forum, do you think there's a gap in the market?

I've seen some rare stuff from time to time on Ebay, but usually for much more than should be paid for these bootlegs. There is no doubt that the few who are doing it are profiting. There is one seller, who frequently posts copies of the 1982 documentary that has been selling them for at least a year or two now.

I know it has been made public before on this site, but there are some rare welles films attainable on E-mule, a peer to peer exchange site. I have recently discovered "One Man Band" to be on there, for those interested.

However, if you have rare Welles that is not already on Ebay, I have no doubt you will make some money... if you should choose to bootleg on Ebay, that is...

I agree with what savehollywood said. You can occasionally find the rare Welles on Ebay, but not often and when you do, usually for more than it's worth. The guy who sells the bbc intreview for $30 has takers, but then if you look, he gets one sale for every five or six listings. I've even put a few of the rarer Welles items (not bootlegs) up on Ebay. And while I wasn't expecting to triple my investment, my auctions got plenty of looks but only 1 or 2 bids at most. Average "profit" was $3.
