I saw this in the Yahoo Welles forum.

First there was Mark Millar with the Welles 'Bat-Man' project.

Now this.

Good for a laugh or two...

Yes, I got my own copy sent to me by Email, which makes me think that Simon Bermuda is someone familiar to us here.

I told him his parody was a good try, but anyone with the slightest knowledge of the period would know it was a fake. For instance, showing "a little tit" would not have been too much of a problem to the British Censor in 1956 (within reason), but the U.S. State boards and the Legion of Decency would have gone nuts.

I pointed out that his description missed a possible reference to Anthony Perkins in THE TRIAL.

My reaction was returned.

Simon Bermuda may have been done away with by factotums of the old Arkadin Gang!

Or was it on of us?

Glenn,
Oh shoot, does that mean I better look over my shoulder for one of Arkadin's boyo's? Am I going to be on his list too?

I have been a bit of a lurker here, just readng peoples posts here, waiting for the right time to add something worth while. it seems that I have learned quite a bit about the late Mr. Welles from just reading what is here. Of course I have the usual offline material as well.

Now one rumor I have heard about was a supposed Nero Wolfe project. However, I have not seen any reference to this anywhere, so I consider it another 'what if'.

Welles was enticed to play Nero Wolfe in a TV series following a successful TV movie with Thayer David in 1977. David died suddenly in 1978. For whatever reason, Welles was nixed and the role of the fat, wealthy, shut-in, orchid-growing detective went to William Conrad. The Nero Wolfe series only lasted one season in 1981.
At this point in his career, Welles believed that his best options for making "dizzy money" lay in TV and broadcasting, as roles in films were now few and far between.

Okay, Marco! You are one of us! Glad to see you are here and alive.

As I've told you privately, the parody was really very good.

But stay around here . . . where we can watch you.
