We are getting a bit crazy, are we not, Tony? But for fun, I'll bite.
Herrmann's score for BENEATH 12 MILE REEF (1953) might work. It would give the visuals in THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, the watery, sea swell quality called for, rather like Erich Wolfgang Korngold's music in THE SEA WOLF.
From there, however, it's straight down to THE FALCON IN MEXICO (1944) or Danny Elfman.
