Unknown Welles

EarthStation1.com is offering a couple of Welles audios that I’m not familiar with:

Nazi Eyes On Canada 42-10-25 #6 Alameda with Orson Welles v.1 | Nazi Eyes On Canada 42-10-25 #6 Alameda with Orson Welles v.2 |

Orson Welles - A Simple Act [undated]

Does anyone know anything about these?

Thanks!

Nazi Eyes On Canada was a (naturally) Canadian-produced show based on a turncoat Canadian spy's report to his Nazi bosses. The show demonstrated what life would be like under the boot of the Axis powers, should they win. Welles narrated the episode he appeared in, "Alameda," and it's well worth a listen.

Thanks for the background, Jeff; you sold me! For $9.99, it's certainly worth it for the Welles items alone. And there are a thousand other WWII files that go with it... :)

Sorry I couldn't get you this news sooner, NoFake, but I just found this place. The entire 5-episode "Nazi Eyes On Canada" series is available in mp3 for free download here:

If you already purchased it, well, never mind....

Thanks, Night Listener! What a find. :) This is far superior to the MP3-of-a-thousand-files, which I did buy --- but which I'll probably never have time to listen to, to sort out those few Welles segments.

I've now bookmarked the transpacificradio page. Thanks again!

Oh-oh: I spoke too soon. I've gone through the first and part of the second program, and -- much like "The Life of Jesus" MP3 set I ordered a while back, which also claimed him -- I have yet to hear Welles. Can you, Night Listener, or someone else who's listened to these programs, enlighten me as to what role he plays? He's not mentiond anywhere (yet), and he's certainly not the narrator. Unless he's disguised his voice to such an extent as to be unrecognizable to a seasoned Wellesian. (And I'm eager to be proved wrong here...)

Welles is on Alameda, but not the others.

He arrived a few minutes late into the broadcast, so the show's producer (?) was reading Orson's copy up until then. Then Welles stepped in.

The producer was still fuming about it 15 years later on CBC.

Thanks! (Sounds like the producer was something of a prima donna.) Someone should tell the webmaster about this, though; the site states: "Nazi Eyes On Canada, part 5, hosted by Orson Welles, as are all parts."
