The Third Man (Blu-ray)
*****
This 1949 espionage thriller is an undisputed classic thanks to the reunion of Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles as Holly Martins and Harry Lime, respectively, but as lauded as this Carol Reed masterpiece may be, it's never looked better than it does now – on Blu-ray – thanks to some impressive digital remastering and restoration based on the original 35-mm master positive.
Other Blu-ray features include uncompressed mono soundtrack, video introduction by Peter Bogdanovich, audio commentary from Steven Soderbergh, documentary feature, BBC TV show on Graham Greene, The Third Man on radio, archival footage of postwar Vienna and more.
