I'm looking for Orson Welles' article "Thoughts on Germany" from 1951 which was published in a British journal and for the series of articles about Germany which he published in 1950 in a French newspaper. I could offer in return some rarities from my collection.

In James Naremore's THE MAGIC WORLD OF ORSON WELLES, there are excerpts from an article Welles wrote for a British publication in the early 50's. I don't know if it's one of the articles in question, but it's interesting. It's about Fritz Mandl, an Austrian arms tycoon said to have been involved in the rise of both Hitler and Mussolini. It's also believed he was one of the models Welles used for the character of Gregory Arkadin. After the war Mandl had found refuge in Juan and Eva Peron's fascist regime in Argentina, and became their chief weapons manufacturer. Welles' article depicts Mandl relaxing on a European lake, perhaps there to strengthen relations between Argentina and Franco's Spain.

First of two films Welles appeared in for close friend Henry Jaglom. Co-stars Tuesday Weld.

Handsome, but lackluster version of the Stephenson classic. Welles wrote and directed parts of it, and stars (very hammily) as Long John Silver. Fair quality recording from A&E.
13. THE WITCHING (1972)
Welles's precipitous decline continued with this amatuerish horror film co-starring Michael Ontkean and Pamela Franklin (whose nude scenes are a partial saving grace). Fair quality tape.

HOME-MADE PROJECTS
1. BALLET MECHANIQUE (1924). A collaboration between two avante-garde artists, filmmaker Frederic Leger and composer George Antheil. Somewhere along the line, they had a falling out and, even after 80 years, the film and music have never been presented together publicly, even though both have become classics in their own right. This video unites the two, perhaps for the first time ever. Antheil was Welles's choice to score THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, before Columbia studio shanghaid the film from him. 15 minutes.
2. HOME VIDEO OF WELLES FILM FESTIVAL (1990)
Held at the then-100 year-old Opera House in Woodstock, IL, where Welles acted as a young man. Features special guest Beatrice Welles introducing a showing of "Chimes at Midnight" and Michael Dawson discussing his documentary CITIZEN WELLES (eventually aborted). 20 minutes.

Roman Polanski's masterful first film is a thriller about tensions aboard a boat that threaten to turn deadly. Anticipates Welles's unfinished THE DEEP from 1968. From LD.
14. BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE (1986)
Bela Bartok's 1913 opera seems halfway between Citizen Kane and Poe's Fall of the House of Usher. A brooding ex-pirate takes his new bride on a tour of his mysterious, gloomy castle, with shocking results. Excellent BBC production directed by Leslie Megehey, who directed ARENA, probably the best documentary ever made on Welles.

Early film by Lars Von Trier, made for Danish Television. A stark retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Jason abandoning his wife and children for a political marriage. Jonathon Rosenbaum compared it's style to Welles's MACBETH and OTHELLO.

1. BALLET MECHANIQUE (1924). A collaboration between two avante-garde artists, filmmaker Frederic Leger and composer George Antheil. Somewhere along the line, they had a falling out and, even after 80 years, the film and music have never been presented together publicly, even though both have become classics in their own right. This video unites the two, perhaps for the first time ever. Antheil was Welles's choice to score THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, before Columbia studio shanghaid the film from him. 15 minutes.
2. HOME VIDEO OF WELLES FILM FESTIVAL (1990)

Early film by Lars Von Trier, made for Danish Television. A stark retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Jason abandoning his wife and children for a political marriage. Jonathon Rosenbaum compared it's style to Welles's MACBETH and OTHELLO.

6. THE LIONS OF CAPITALISM (1983) - OW co-narrates with Lowell Thomas this program about such as industrial giants as Carnegie, Ford, etc.
7. SHORT 22-minute FOUR MEN ON A RAFT - Richard Wilson's original 1986 cut of Four men on a Raft, done to raise money for the IT'S ALL TRUE documentary, which was completed in 1993.
8. TODOS E BRASIL (1996) - Brazilian documentary about Welles's time in Brazil. A fascinating head trip of a show. 90 minutes

10. THE GREATEST ADVENTURE (1976) - Docu on the NASA Space program, leading up to the Moon landing. Welles narrated. 1 hour.
11. BRYAN COX READS THE HEART OF DARKNESS SCREENPLAY (2012) - Excellent reading by the distinguished actor who originated the role of Hannibal Lector on film. 150 minutes.
