There will be an Orson Welles segment on Sunday, June 26th on the CBS News Sunday Morning show. Air time on the East coast is from 9 a.m. to 10:30. Those of you living elsewhere in the U.S. please check your local TV listings.

The segment will include interviews with Orson's eldest daughter, Christopher Welles, and with Austin Pendleton who wrote the play "Orson's Shadow." There may also be some footage from a live performance CBS taped in May.

While the producers expect to run the Orson Welles segment on the June 26th show, there's a fall-back date on the following Sunday, July 3rd.

I happened to see this segment this morning. It focused primarily on "War of the Worlds," and I heard no mention of "Orson's Shadow." There were brief audio clips from the 1930 WOW, snippets from Orson's daughter and from Bogdanovich, a clip from Orson's post-WOW news conference, and a bit on H.G. Wells, including audio from the meeting of Wells and Welles. Also, a clip from "Citizen Kane"--Kane's townhall campaign speech. The theme advanced: Each paranoid period gets its own version of "War of the Worlds"--1938, Cold War, and now post 9/11. Lastly, there was a bit about Spielberg's film. Overall, nothing new.

Unfortunately, the Orson Welles segment that was originally planned was dropped to make room for Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise and Spielberg's new movie, "The War of the Worlds." I am sorry I mentioned it at all in my original post since it didn't come off, but that's the media for you.
