The Stranger, on stage

A New York City theater company recently staged a production of a play based on The Stranger, incorporating some of the material cut from the film, and even casting a woman in the role of Wilson, as Welles had wished to do with Agnes Moorehead. The director, Frank Cwiklik, adapted the film to stage, making a note of the inclusion of the cut material. Link below is to a quick review of the show.

Wow, that sounds like a really cool production, especially the black and white lighting effects. Let's hope it does well enough at the box office to go on tour. What's next...Citizen Kane on stage?

Naah! I think Touch Of Evil would be next.

As for the stage version of The Stranger, that part of using a woman instead of a man for the part of "Wilson" would have probably pleased him had they let him do it in the movie. Ms. Moorehead would have a good done job.
