The American Film Institute Silver Theatre and Cultural Centre in Silver Spring, Maryland, will host an Orson Welles retrospective April 17 through July 1.

The 22-film Orson Welles Centennial series includes Citizen Kane, Chimes at Midnight, Othello, The Magnificent Ambersons, Touch of Evil, A Man For All Seasons, and much more. The complete lineup and showtimes may be found at afi.com/silver

“This retrospective of the films of Orson Welles includes his singular directorial efforts, his scene-stealing performances as an actor in others’ films and several documentaries exploring aspects of his unique genius,” the AFI Silver states.

The Maryland retrospective is one of more than 30 events taking place worldwide this year as film enthusiasts mark the centennial of the late filmmaker’s birth on May. 6.

The AFI Silver offer Welles fans a chance to see his films in a beautiful and modern setting.

Saved from the wrecker’s ball by community effort and landmark designation, the historic Silver Theatre is a unique public-private partnership of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the American Film Institute. Anchored by the restoration of noted architect John Eberson’s historic 1938 Silver Theatre, it also features 32,000 square feet of new construction housing two stadium theatres, office and meeting space, and reception and exhibit areas.
