The six episodes of Around the World with Orson Welles are streaming through June 20 at metrograph.com.
Metrograph operates a theater in New York City, as well as a video-on-demand service.
Memberships are $5 per month or $50 annually.
The six short travelogues were written and directed by Welles for Associated-Rediffusion in 1955.
Filmed in Europe, the short-lived series included episodes with Welles visiting Jean Cocteau and Juliette Gréco in Paris, attending a bullfight in Madrid with Kenneth Tynan and a trip to the Basque Country.
Initially, Around the World with Orson Welles was planned for 25 episodes, but Welles was busy with projects including the staging of Moby Dick—Rehearsed.
The six episodes are:
- Pays Basque I (1955) 26 minutes
- Pays Basque II (1955) 26 minutes
- Revisiting Vienna aka The Third Man Returns to Vienna (1955) 26 minutes
- St-Germain-des-Pres (1955) 26 minutes
- Chelsea Pensioners (1955) 26 minutes
- Madrid Bullfight (Corrida Madrid) 1955) 26 minutes
The series was released on Blu-ray in the U.S. by B2Mp in 2015, along with a seventh episode completed after Welles’ death.
