British Film Institute plans Orson Welles tribute

Third Man lobby cardThe British Film Institute is planning a centennial tribute to Orson Welles for this summer.

The event, which runs in July and August, will include all of the late filmmaker’s completed features, together with fiction films, documentaries and essays made for television.

Among the offerings will be a 2013 re-release of Touch of Evil (the version assembled by Walter Murch in 1998) and a revival of director Carol Reed’s The Third Man (in which he famously starred as Harry Lime), as well as talks and discussions touching on Welles’ work in film, television, theater and radio.

More details will  be announced in late spring on the BFI website

Details on other centenary events can be found on Wellesnet’s centenary page
