The Carefree, Arizona, house used by Orson Welles during the filming of The Other Side of the Wind is up for sale.
The 7102 E Stagecoach Pass Road home was dressed as the ranch home of director Jake Hannaford, played by John Huston, in the movie. Welles and his crew filmed there for several months in 1974.
It is listed by Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty with an asking price of a cool $ 4.5 million.
Built in 1971 by architect Gerry Jones, the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home has 2,463 square feet of living space with an 866-square-foot guest house on the property.
The listing boasts: “A super private pool that looks like you are in the bottom of the Grand Canyon! Part of the ”Golden Triangle’ neighbors to Carefree founders K.T. Palmer and Tom Darlington, all grabbed astonishing homesites when Carefree began. Called the ”Slingman House” after the original owners, reached by a bridge, Rock cliffs by the pool have multiple sitting areas as you go rise up the terrain.”
The real estate listing mistakenly says the single-floor home was “a favorite rental of actor Orson Welles and film director John Huston who started filming the sequel to Citizen Kane on the property.”
