A jacket worn by Orson Welles in Citizen Kane sold for $102,000 at an auction on October 18, 2014.

Profiles in History said the jacket was worn by Welles in the giant poster in the iconic scene where Charles Foster Kane delivers a campaign speech at a podium. The jacket was seen again when wife Susan Kane is practicing her singing. It is inscribed “Orson Wells 41 1/2”.

The winning bidder was not identified.

Prior the auction, Profiles is History had estimated its value at $60,000.

In December 2013, a three-piece suit worn by Welles in one of the 1941 film’s latter scenes sold for $132,000 at a Profiles in History auction.

Costumes for Citizen Kane were designed by Edward Stevenson. He had been named head designer at RKO Pictures in 1936, five years before the release of Citizen Kane.

He also designed the gowns seen in the Mercury Production of Journey Into Fear.

Stevenson won an Oscar, along with Edith Head, in 1961 for their work on the film Facts of Life.

In television, Stevenson was the costume designer for three popular series starring Lucille Ball. He died in 1968.
