Updated on January 26: The Citizen Welles Society of Kenosha informs us it will hold its next meeting on March 6. The group is eyeing the possibility of a series of event, which would kick-off with the 100th anniversary of Orson Welles’ birth on May 6 and continue through October.

Residents of Orson Welles’ birthplace in Wisconsin have formed a group to honor the late actor-director on the centennial of his birth in May 2015.
The Citizen Welles Society of Kenosha held its first meeting on January 23.
Nita Hunter of RG Productions — a Kenosha troupe that performs classic radio dramas — told Wellesnet she hopes for a full slate of activities there next year.
The society has established a Facebook page to promote its events.
Welles was born in Kenosha on May 6, 1915 and moved away as a small child.
He once told film historian (and Wisconsin native) Joseph McBride that Kenosha was a terrible place, but acknowledged his only memory of the city was the day of his mother’s funeral when he was 9 years old.
Welles spent much of his childhood at the Todd School for Boys in nearby Woodstock, Illinois. The non-profit Woodstock Celebrates Inc. announced plans last year for its own celebration May 6-9, 2015.
RG Productions is slated to take part in Woodstock Celebrates’ commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Todd Theatre Festival on May 16-17, 2014.
