Esteve Riambau, director of the FilmoTeca de Catalunya in Barcelona, will join film historian Joseph McBride for The Other Side of Orson Welles on Thursday, November 19, at the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, California.

McBride has written three books on Welles, the most recent being What Ever Happened to Orson Welles?: A Portrait of an Independent Career.  He also worked with Welles, as an actor on the still-unfinished drama about the film industry, The Other Side of the Wind.

A professor at San Francisco State University, McBride will share stories about The Other Side of the Wind and its difficult history and screen several rare shorts and clips that represent the work by Welles of which most people are unaware.

Riambau, a noted Spanish film scholar,  is the author of three books on Welles: Orson Welles: The Show Without Limits (1985), Orson Welles: An Immortal Spain (1993) and The Things We Have Seen: Welles and Falstaff (2015).

Riambau is co-screenwriter of the documentary Orson Welles in the Land of Don Quixote and adapter of the 2008 play Yours Truly, Orson Welles.

McBride was a guest speaker at the Filmoteca de Catalunya  seminar Orson Welles, a multidisciplinary artist in June.

The two-hour program is part of the Smith Rafael Film Center’s Welles retrospective, Welles 100: The Maverick.
