For as little as $895 a night, you can live like Hollywood royalty in the home once shared by Orson Welles and his second wife, Rita Hayworth.
The restored Orson Welles Luxury View Estate sits atop Sunset Boulevard. The 3,000 square-foot, four-bedroom Cape Cod style home was built in 1928 by Sidney Toller of the “Charlie Chan” film series. It boasts a luxury pool with jacuzzi, a dry sauna and spectacular view.
Guests can rent the home for several days or a month. Daily rates range from $895 to $1,195 (five-night minimum stay). A month-long rental is available during the fall for $18,750 – about $625 a night.
Guest reviews have been glowing:
“This was the most awesome holiday of my life and not just because it was my honeymoon and present from my wonderful husband. But because this was Orson Welles’ house and ‘Citizen Kane’ is my favorite film ever … I felt like Rita Hayworth strutting around in my silk nightie.”
Another guest wrote:
“We loved the deep Hollywood history, and all the modern conveniences the mansion had to offer, the pool and views of Los Angeles were unrivaled.”
Hayworth and Welles married on September 7, 1943 and had one child together, Rebecca. Hayworth filed for divorce in 1948.
The estate was home to a number of stars, including Peter Lorre, Ida Lupino and Paul Williams.
