La Filmoteca de Andalucía plans 3-month salute to Orson Welles

Spain’s La Filmoteca de Andalucía in Córdoba will showcase 10 films directed by Orson Welles during the months of October, November and December.

The film series, which marks the 100th anniversary of the late filmmaker’s birth, begins October 8 and 10 with showings of the landmark film Citizen Kane.

Other films in the centennial series include The Magnificent Ambersons, The Stranger, Othello, Macbeth, Touch of Evil, Mr. ArkadinThe Trial and F For Fake.

The series concludes on December 17 and 19 with showings of Chimes at Midnight (Falstaff), which was filmed in Spain between the fall 1964 and spring 1965 with the backing of Spanish film producers Emiliano Piedra and Ángel Escolano and Harry Saltzman, who co-produced the James Bond films.

Located in the former San Sebastián de Córdoba Hospital, La Filmoteca de Andalucía was founded in 1987 and dedicated to the preservation, study and dissemination of film heritage.
