More screenings of restored ‘The Third Man’ across the U.S.

Third ManAdditional screenings of the 4K restoration of  The Third Man are underway across the U.S. this summer.

The restoration of director Carol Reed’s post-World War II film, which stars Joseph Cotten, Valli and Orson Welles, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May,

The award-winning team at Deluxe Restoration carried out the new 4K digital restoration of The Third Man on behalf of Studiocanal. It is being distributed in the U.S. by Rialto Pictures.

Following  what was described as a rigorous comparison of different available elements,  the 4K scan was done from a fine grain master positive struck from the original negative. Release prints were used as a reference for the grading.

StudioCanal will release a region B/2 Blu-ray and DVD set in Europe on July 20.

There has been no announcement regarding a U.S. home video release.
