‘Orson Welles: 100 Years’ coming to Nashville

The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Orson Welles’ birth with a film festival set to run from February 20 to March 4.

Orson Welles: 100 Years will offer 13 films ranging from the 1938 silent footage intended for the stage production of Too Much Johnson to 1973’s F For Fake. Welles’ scholar Jonathan Rosenbaum will speak at a February 21 brunch preceding a screening of Citizen Kane.

Other films in the series include: The Magnificent Ambersons,  The Stranger, Macbeth, Othello, Chimes at Midnight, Mr. Arkadian, The Lady From ShanghaiTouch of Evil , The Trial and The Third Man. The theater has created a nice video promoting the series.

The 90-year-old Belcourt is a nonprofit cultural institution dedicated to presenting the best of independent, documentary, world, repertory and classic cinema.
