Orson Welles’ Christmas radio shows online

family-listening-to-the-radioTo get Orson Welles fans in the mood this holiday season, Wellesnet is offering a collection of vintage Christmas radio shows featuring Welles and his Mercury Theatre players.

For starters, there are two versions of “A Christmas Carol” as heard on the Campbell Playhouse in 1938 and 1939.

Next up is Lady Esther’s “Orson Welles Show” from December 22, 1941 with a suitable holiday theme. Guest stars include Mercury Theatre pals Ray Collins, Agnes Moorehead, Joseph Cotten, Edgar Barrier and Erskine Sanford. Tim Holt of “The Magnificent Ambersons” is also on hand.

And finally, radio great Norman Corwin’s “The Plot to Overthrow Christmas” from 1944 starring Welles and Collins.
