Denver Film will present The Other Side of Orson Welles: A Philosophical Film Retrospective in March.
The film series is geared for those unfamiliar with Welles’ work beyond his landmark Hollywood debut, Citizen Kane.
The three-film retrospect begins on March 17 with the 1947 thriller The Lady from Shanghai, co-starring Welles’ then-wife Rita Hayworth.
It will be followed a week later with Welles’ Shakespearean triumph of 1965, Chimes at Midnight on March 24. The film series concludes with the 1973 film essay F for Fake on March 31. All showings will take place at 7 p.m.
The three movies will be screened at the Sie FilmCenter at 2510 East Colfax Ave. in Denver, Colorado.
The showings will be hosted by the Denver Project for Humanistic Inquiry and promise a “philosophical exploration of Welles’s lesser-known masterpieces.” Each movie screening will be introduced by a pair of Denver area philosophers and followed by an open discussion.
Tickets, priced at $7 for members and $12 for non-members, are available online at denverfilm.org
